This is another papercut illustration I did to accompany Sophie Dahl's column in Waitrose Food Illustrated.

Hihi, my name is Madeleine Hann and I am a BTECH Art and Design student and have just started looking at print making...I have been given the task of looking at the work of an artist of our choice. So as a huge admirer of your work and proud owner of your wonderful book 'This Is For You' I have chosen you. However I have been unable to find any information on your background in printmaking rather than paper cuts and I was wandering if you could help me??...we have been asked to write about the techniques of the arist we choose so i was wondering what you use to make your prints (lino, wood, paper etc.), how long they take to do, what kind of tools you use, that sort of thing. Any help would be greatly apriciated. Mad.
Oh my God, this message is probably the silliest one you'll ever have and i tried to contact you via email but i couldnt find any email adress...anyway, what i'm goind to say has nothing to do with the picture here (excuse me if my terms are inapropriate, i'm french). I just wanted to tell you i've never been touched that much by art before that. I didnt know your work and i found it just like that, to me it was breath taking, i couldnt keep it inside, i just cried. It was a couple in an heart, and i realised it was me. Well, it was excatly what i had in my heart but that i couldnt tll or reproduce, just imagine. And there it was, i reconized it right away.It was like a souvenir i had of my first love, that passion and tenderness blossoming, but colorless, black, as a shadow in front of the sunset. You know i wonder if it would be possible to buy one of your original. I dont know how it could coast, i'm not very rich, but i'm ready to save every little money to get one of your production; Again, it's the first time in all my life that i cry because of being touched by beauty. Thank you. Eloïse
Hello Ryan! LOVE your work, "This is For You" is my favorite present to give friends, and I just wanted to let you know I linked to your fabulous blog today in my own post about papercuts: http://bigbangstudio.blogspot.com/2009/09/cut-it-out.html Cheers, and happy 'cutting! Lily in California
I've just recieved a mail out from The Yorkshire sculpture park and I'm so pleased your doing an exhibition there! ( It's soooo beautiful, you'll love it!) I've been an admirer of your work for a long time and purchased from your Etsy shop and it's so lovely to hear you're coming 'up north!' to show your work...never mind London and New York, Yorkshire's the place for art!! Thanks for making my day!
